The Onion  - Meadows in the Mountains festival chill space

I had returned from traveling in Nepal and wanted to create something for a British run festival in Bulgaria, a girlfriend and I drove through Europe with a van of scrap wood and tools, we acquired some locally milled timber and built a heptagonal platform and deck at the festival site at the top of a remote mountain. With difficulty the scrap wood was joined in an S bend seven times and joined at the center point to make an Indian Minaret or onion shaped structure, it was covered in scrap canvas which was waterproof, the sides were left open and pillows made of old curtains were stuffed with straw. The structure was supposed to be self supporting but after the roof sagged a vertical post was inserted in the center, the space was used for the Bulgarian local lady’s choir performance and for a number of yoga sessions. I vastly underestimated the difficulty of this project and the cost to myself, it was however an exceptional learning experience.
