Bath City Garden

I was asked to use some old patio paving slabs to create a new patio and develop the disused corner of a suburban Georgian garden. I designed the area to have some practical compost bin bays with morticed corner posts so that timber planks could slot in at various heights according to need, I felt they would need a site to incinerate green waste so put in a fire pit circle in the middle of the patio. I also integrated a snaking path lined with Bath stone blocks and a similarly snaking retaining wall as the property gained in height, many of the stone blocks were found on site so only the hardcore and the under-layed cloth were brought into the site, along with the necessary sand and cement. I did not factor in the difficulty of access and the strain induced by the alleyway incline to the side door of the property, this pushed the project over my estimates of time and cost by 30%, I certainly learned a lot from this project.
