I was asked to make a set of Shelves for a friend, I had recently moved to Bristol and had spied an abandoned scaffold board which I jet washed, sanded and re-sanded. I found some pieces of 2" X 2" in a number of skips and used them to make a frame, not wanting to be boring decided to use dovetail joints which are difficult by hand at the best of times but were a challenge with fairly low grade wood. Also wanting strength in to be maintained by the wood without the need for metal fixings I opted for the shelves to be joined to the frame with dove tailed lap joints. PVA wood glue was used in this project and was sealed with boiled linseed oil with a touch of white spirit.
