Keepsafe Box

This was a present that got out of hand, I was aghast that some oak sleeper offcuts were going to be burned so I took them and cut them into 15mm thick slabs and decided that I would make them into a sturdy box. My joinery was shoddy as I was making it in my spare time so to cover up the bad workmanship I decided to run a metal strip around each edge as decoration. It took a long time to hand cut and file down each strip of copper into each pattern, the corners needed to be soldered but not while they were attached to the box so I made decorative pre made bits and pinned them in place with copper nails. I even made a velvet cushioned divider that when fitted, made a spare compartment underneath but is not shown in these photo's.
